TERRORISM FEARS NOT STOPPING SNOWBIRDS
The Tampa Tribune reports that fears of terrorism are having little
impact on reservations for this winter at central Florida RV parks.
Even the volume of reservations from Canadians appears to be
unaffected. "People are feeling comfortable on the road in their own
vehicles," said Joe Striska of the Florida Association of RV Parks and
Campgrounds. "RVers are a hardy bunch, and they're going to do their
own thing anyway. They can just as well hear about terrorism in
Florida as in Michigan, Ohio or New York."

providing dump stations and free overnight parking. It's not just
an act of kindness, but an attempt to survive in a changing economy.

MOTORHOME PARKING GARAGE PLANNED
A 300-unit indoor storage facility for motorhomes is planned
by National Self Storage RV in Marana, Ariz., west of Tucson
along I-10. Motorhomes will be stored in masonry-covered
buildings that will blend into the desert. Primary customers will
be owners of high-end motorhomes in neighborhoods where they
are not allowed to park their rigs near their homes. Other
prospective renters are local RV owners who worry about
vandalism where they park their units near their homes. Rental
rates will range from $200 to $400 a month. Most existing
Tucson-area RV storage facilities offer uncovered parking either
on dirt or asphalt lots.

READER LETTER ---------------------------------------------------

WHO CAN EXPLAIN THE MYSTERIOUS SOUND IN THE NIGHT?
From reader Annita Kotinek:
"On the night of October 7 we camped at Pima County Gilbert Ray
Campground west of Tucson. During the night we were awakened by
sounds my husband and I could not identify. It was a call that sounded
like a cross between a howl and a hoot, but not a bird. There was
one blast -- three up higher and two more at a pitch in-between.
It continued for a good five minutes. After some consideration I
concluded that it might have been the aged hippy in a tent a couple
of sites away. I have combed the Web and haven't come up with
anything that would fit. I think javelinas sound like pigs. This
wasn't a pig sound. Any suggestions?"

CAN YOU HELP THIS WOMAN IDENTIFY WHAT SHE HEARD?
