Maintenance Gets Easier With AAA AutoManager
(Orlando, Fla. - 6/25/2003) How many times have you forgotten an oil change? When was the last time your car or RVs tires were rotated? If you have trouble remembering routine maintenance for your vehicle, you can now receive automatic e-mail reminders when you list your vehicle with AAA AutoManager available on www.aaa.com. The service is free and available to the public.
Routine maintenance is one of the most important factors in owning a car, yet many people forget or never realize when maintenance is due, said John Nielsen, director, AAA Approved Auto Repair. Forgetting even the simple things, like an oil change, can be costly in terms of both time and money.
AAA responds to more than 28 million emergency road service calls annually, and many of the problems we see could be avoided with regular checkups, said Nielsen.
To help keep autos on the road and in good running condition, AAA has developed AAA AutoManager. The system allows users to enter basic information about their vehicle such as year, make, model, transmission type, annual mileage and engine size. Users can choose to enter as much information about their vehicle as they want, including entire service and repair histories for each vehicle listed.
Once the information is entered, AAA AutoManager will automatically send e-mail reminders when its time for service such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid level checks, inspections of belts and hoses, and many other maintenance needs. Users will also be alerted to any recalls issued by the manufacturer of their vehicle and receive a list of recalls currently on file with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
In addition, AAA AutoManager can be used to troubleshoot problems and estimate repair costs, or to locate a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility that has been independently inspected by AAA. You can also choose whether to receive reminders concerning financing or insurance payments, or extended warranty information.
To list a vehicle on AAA AutoManager, simply log on to www.aaa.com and click on the automotive section of the Web site. Then click on AutoManager. You will be prompted to enter a name and password as well as an e-mail address to receive your notifications. Then enter as much information as you like for as many different vehicles as you want to track.
